After swiping right on the Facebook Dating app, Matt and Emily had their first date at Sweet Liberty in Miami Beach, FL. Matt suggested this place without realizing it was Emily’s favorite spot on the beach (near where she was living). Even though Emily was 10 minutes late dressed in her office attire, Matt and Emily connected over cocktails for several hours.

The day after Matt & Emily met, Matt left for over two weeks to attend one of his oldest friend’s wedding in Cincy (Brett & Abbie) and explore Europe with good friend Brad!

Matt flew into MIA from Germany only a couple hours earlier than when Emily flew in from Charlotte. And he insisted on picking her up from the airport. Being in Miami, Emily didn’t know what kind of car to look for (everyone drives lambos and ferraris!). She knew Matt was special after seeing him roll up in his 2009 Honda Civic.

Matt didn’t just start falling in love with Emily… He fell in love with Emily’s fur baby, Juney. Rumor has it that he fell in love with Juney first!

Juney obviously felt the same way about Matt!

Matt & Emily continued to spend each day together, even seeing Messi play against FC Cincinnati.

And when Matt & Emily weren’t together, they never stopped thinking about each other.

For Matt’s birthday, Emily planned a trip to Austin TX where they got caught in the rain (as pictured here), ate tons of BBQ and danced the night away!

Emily’s best friend visited Miami and as the universe would have it, his name also happens to be Matt! (Great name!)

Even though Emily did not want to move for the third time that year, Matt & Emily moved in together to Edgewater, Miami. She told him that she wouldn’t move again for a couple years (and that was a lie).

For Thanksgiving, Matt brought Emily back to Cincinnati to officially meet his family!

Matt quickly learned that plants were a quick way to Emily’s heart. Several trips to garden centers and 200+ plants later, Matt rightfully earned the title “Plant Daddy”.

Matt met Emily’s Mom, Billie Jo, and Step-Dad, Jeff before they flew to Grenada for a holiday vacation!

While they were ringing in the new year on a beach in Grenada, Matt went down on one knee and asked Emily to marry him. Spoiler alert: she said yes!

They celebrated their engagement with bubbly in bubbles!

During a trip to Phoenix, while Emily was at a conference, Matt climbed to breathtaking heights! They had an awesome time at the WM Phoenix Open where they hung out in the WM suite at the 16th hole!

Matt & Emily visited Italy for Emily’s work trip. Their favorite stop was Venice! They had so much fun getting tipsy at a jazz/karaoke bar with bras hanging from the ceiling and trying to find their way through alleyways and bridges.

Though Emily loved leading sustainability for a global cruise company, her priorities were changing. She found another job opportunity, and Juney soaked up every minute of Emily’s break.

Emily’s new job had her traveling to the Midwest every other week, so she could meet with her most important stakeholders: farmers & cows!

Matt and Emily, eager to be back in the Midwest, went on a search to discover the city that they would raise their future babies. All 3 of them (yes, including Juney!) explored Chattanooga, Nashville/Franklin, Memphis and more! But none of these cities felt quite right.

Then it clicked! Cincy was the obvious choice! After getting bought out by many all-cash offers in this crazy market, they finally secured a beautiful home built in 1865 located in Wyoming, Ohio.

Matt and Emily will be saying “I do” with witnesses like you!
